You don’t take a photo and fix it after.

The viewfinder runs the same vectoriser as the shutter, so you compose the drawing itself — and press the button when it’s right.

If it looks right on the glass, it is right on the plate.

02 · it hands the shop a job

Every shot writes itself to your phone. Three files:

What a printer asks first.

What does dissector give you?

Three files per shot, written to the Files app on their own: an SVG master with real curves and one named layer per ink; a PNG proof; and a print file — a CMYK vector PDF with each ink on its own page, registration marks, the finished size in millimetres and the screen ruling stated on every film.

Is it a filter, or a tracing app?

Neither. Other apps trace a photograph you already took. Here the viewfinder itself runs the vectoriser, so you compose the drawing live and press the button when it is right. What you see on the glass is the plate.

Does it use AI?

No. There is no model in it. It is a Metal pipeline and a contour tracer, so the same photograph gives the same line every time. The machine invented nothing.

Can a print shop use the files?

They are CMYK vector PDFs with separations, registration marks and a declared trim, screened at the process angles 15° / 75° / 0° / 45°. They are not PDF/X: there is no output intent and no embedded ICC profile. If a workflow requires PDF/X, that is exactly what we want to know.

How large can the file be made?

Ask for a size between A4 and four metres and the file is made at that size, stated in millimetres, rather than at “300 dpi and hope”. It has been shot and measured at 841 mm and at 4000 mm; the marks and the margin scale with the sheet.

What leaves the phone?

Nothing. There is no network code in the app: no account, no upload, no subscription, no analytics. The photograph becomes curves on the device and is discarded the moment the line is born — the drawing is what is kept.

Photographs go in.
Plates come out.
